Invertebrates

We have been learning about invertebrates. One day a scientist came and showed us a bit about invertebrates and he came on Thursday. He taught us that every invertebrate lays eggs. Did you know invertebrates are the biggest animal group in the world? Invertebrates have no back bone. They are cold blooded. The man who came in was called Mr Mel and he was Miss Galbraith's dad and he was awesome. Invertebrates change shape which is called metamorphosis. He showed us a giant cave weta. The female wetas have an ovipositor. The male wetas have a spnie out of their bottoms.

All The Small Things

Our current science focus is invertebrates. We've been learning and trying to use lots of 'big' science words like: invertebrate, exoskeleton, metamorphosis and ecosystem. It makes us feel like real scientists when we do this!

Also, we have been out searching for invertebrates in the environment around us. Here are some of the ones we have found.
